The North Central Pennsylvania Greenway Plan provides the North Central Pennsylvania Region, its counties, local municipalities, and partner organizations with a flexible framework for decision-making on issues related to Greenways, including the conservation of the region’s natural, cultural, historic, and scenic resources, trail improvements, and economic development opportunities. This plan contains specific implementation strategies to implement the Greenways vision for existing and future generations of North Central Pennsylvania residents.
Having adopted this Plan and beginning to implement its recommendations, the Counties of the North Central Pennsylvania Region are making a commitment towards conserving essential functions provided by our natural infrastructure and connecting our region’s residents to these resources and one another. This plan lays the groundwork for continued success of greenways, as well as enhancing the quality of life for residents and businesses of the North Central Pennsylvania Region.
The plan’s success is dependent on our collective willingness and ability to implement the recommendations within the plan.
This plan, which does not have any regulatory power, provides recommendations for the region, and its counties, municipalities, conservation organizations, trail organizations, watershed organizations and other agencies who desire to enhance the quality of life in the North Central Region by connecting communities, by expanding our trail systems, and by conserving and promoting our natural resources for public benefit.
